About The Country Friends™
THE COUNTRY FRIENDS was formed in 1954 to fulfill a need to “help others to help themselves”.
The organization owns and operates a Consignment Shop to raise funds to accomplish that mission. It is the largest source of funds, producing over two-thirds of the annual income. This year round enterprise is open to the public 6 days a week, entirely staffed by volunteers. Merchandise is received from estates and individuals and is either donated or consigned. In 55 years they have raised over 12 million dollars to support human care agencies throughout San Diego County.
In addition to their Consignment Shop they have held one of the premier fashion runway shows in Southern California every September at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe since their formation. They are very proud that for the past 5 years their partner has been South Coast Plaza who brings to this event the very finest in Couture. The event encompasses several events including “Art of Lunch”, Après Affaire wine tasting and Boutique Shopping, where luxury retailers from South Coast Plaza display their wares for purchase. Proceeds from this event are designated for specific beneficiaries.
